Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan announced the success of his annual “Supply the Shelters” pet donation drive, which resulted in the collection and delivery of several thousand pounds of pet food, treats, toys, litter, and cleaning supplies to local shelters. These donations were provided to the Happy Tails Animal Shelter in Ontario County and the Beverly Animal Shelter in Seneca County.

Assemblyman Gallahan expressed his gratitude: “I continue to be inspired by the compassion and generosity of our community every day, and these donations will make a real difference in the lives of animals waiting for their forever homes. I want to thank every constituent who dropped off supplies and extend my gratitude to Happy Tails and Beverly Animal Shelters for their incredible work each day.”

Gallahan noted the rise in surrenders and intakes at animal shelters, linking it to economic challenges and housing uncertainties. He encouraged the community to consider adopting a pet: “Animal shelters across our region are seeing a rise in surrenders and intakes due to economic challenges and housing uncertainty. If you’re thinking about adding a pet to your family, now is the time. Visit one of our local shelters—you just might meet your new best friend.”

Happy Tails Animal Shelter’s Board of Directors President, Kurt Koczent, underlined the importance of the drive: “We are deeply grateful for the incredible support shown by Assemblyman Gallahan and the community through the Supply the Shelters pet donation drive. The generous contributions of pet food, treats, toys, litter, and cleaning supplies will significantly enhance the well-being of animals in our care. As we face increasing challenges with animal surrenders and intakes, these donations are more vital than ever. We encourage everyone to consider adopting a pet from the Humane Society of Ontario County—your new best friend is waiting for you. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of these animals and ensure they find loving, forever homes.”

Dan Morrin, President of the Beverly Animal Shelter Board of Directors, also expressed appreciation: “The Beverly Animal Shelter, board members, staff and especially the animals, are so very thankful for Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan. We, like all shelters, are overwhelmed by large numbers of homeless animals. The donations, food, litter, toys are just amazing! Assemblyman Gallahan is very kind, thoughtful and the animals love him. His constituents are very lucky to have him. We think he’s The Cat’s Meow.”

For those interested in donating supplies or adopting an animal, the Beverly Animal Shelter is located at 50 East River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165, and the Happy Tails Animal Shelter is at 2976 County Road 48, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
