Assemblyman John Lemondes has issued a warning to residents of the 126th Assembly District about a text messaging scam involving the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). According to reports, several residents have received text messages from an unknown number claiming to be from the DMV. These messages mention an outstanding traffic ticket and include threats of prosecution alongside a fraudulent payment link.

Lemondes is advising residents not to engage with these scam texts or provide any personal information. He emphasized the importance of being vigilant against such scams that aim to deceive individuals into disclosing sensitive information.

The assemblyman’s alert comes in response to multiple reports within his district, highlighting the need for public awareness regarding this issue.
