Pierre Attiogbe led the Cornell men’s track and field team with a victory in the championship section of the 5,000 meters at the Penn Relays on April 23. Attiogbe finished first with a personal-best time of 13:37.70, which places him third all-time in program history and second in the Ivy League this season.
The win marks the first time since Grant Whitney’s performance in 1986 that a Cornell athlete has won this event at the Penn Relays. Matthew O’Brien also competed for Cornell in the same race, finishing 41st with a time of 14:15.78.
In field events earlier that day, Peter Northrup secured sixth place in the college section of the hammer throw with a mark of 58.78 meters.
On the track, Ryder King achieved fourth place in the championship section of the 400-meter hurdles, recording a personal-best time of 50.72 seconds. This result moves King to second all-time at Cornell and ranks him second in the Ivy League this season.
