Pierre Attiogbe led the Cornell men’s track and field team with a victory in the championship section of the 5,000 meters at the Penn Relays on April 23. Attiogbe finished first with a personal-best time of 13:37.70, which places him third all-time in program history and second in the Ivy League this season.

The win marks the first time since Grant Whitney’s performance in 1986 that a Cornell athlete has won this event at the Penn Relays. Matthew O’Brien also competed for Cornell in the same race, finishing 41st with a time of 14:15.78.

In field events earlier that day, Peter Northrup secured sixth place in the college section of the hammer throw with a mark of 58.78 meters.

On the track, Ryder King achieved fourth place in the championship section of the 400-meter hurdles, recording a personal-best time of 50.72 seconds. This result moves King to second all-time at Cornell and ranks him second in the Ivy League this season.

Cornell is scheduled to continue competing at the Penn Relays on Friday, with events starting at noon Eastern Standard Time. Live streaming will be available on FloTrack and results can be found on the Penn Relays website.
