Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan has announced the passage of his bill, A.6584B, in the New York State Legislature. The bill aims to rename a section of State Route 21 in Manchester in memory of TSgt Kory Wade. Senator Pam Helming sponsored the companion Senate bill, S.5769B.

TSgt Kory Wade, originally from Manchester and a Red Jacket High School graduate, joined the Air Force in 2008. Assigned to the 48th Rescue Squadron as a medical logistics airman, he died during a training exercise on June 17, 2023.

Assemblyman Gallahan stated: “TSgt Kory Wade was a true American Patriot… I am honored to be a part of remembering his heroic life by introducing and passing this legislation.”

TSgt Wade’s awards include several commendations such as the Air and Space Commendation Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Senator Helming remarked: “U.S. Air Force TSgt. Wade… served this country with courage and unwavering patriotism… This dedication will allow Kory’s legacy to live on.”

Outside his service, TSgt Wade enjoyed outdoor activities like boating and skiing and was known for his compassion for children and animals.

Mike Wade, TSgt Kory Wade’s father, said: “Kory had an amazing circle of friends… My boy made me and his mom so proud.”

After TSgt Wade’s death, Governor Kathy Hochul ordered flags at half-staff in his honor last July. The legislation now awaits her signature before it becomes law.
