Senator Pam Helming has announced that David Brisbane from Bristol will be inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame for 2025. The Hall of Fame honors veterans from New York who have distinguished themselves in both military and civilian life.
David Brisbane served as a Corporal E-4 in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in 1964 and serving until 1967 during the Vietnam War. He continued on inactive reserve duty until 1970. Following his military service, he worked at Gleason Works in Rochester, New York, eventually retiring as a manufacturing supervisor after 47 years.
Brisbane is a recipient of the Purple Heart and several other honors including the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with three Stars. His community involvement includes membership in organizations such as VFW, American Legion Post 256, and Marine Corps League Memorial Day Detachment 468. He also leads initiatives like the annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
Senator Helming stated, “It is my distinct honor to recognize David Brisbane of Bristol as my district’s inductee into the Veterans Hall of Fame… Mr. Brisbane is a reflection of the Marine Corps motto: Semper Fidelis—Always Faithful.”
Brisbane expressed his gratitude by saying, “It was an honor to be inducted into the New York State Senate Hall of Fame by Senator Helming.” David Wickers praised him as a “full-throttle Marine” who exemplifies dedication to veterans.
Regina Deck from VA Center for Development & Civic Engagement highlighted Brisbane’s volunteer work at Canandaigua VA over 13 years, noting his leadership and consistent impact on veterans’ lives.
The recognition ceremony took place on Tuesday in Albany.
