Cornell men’s hockey freshman forward Caton Ryan was named ECAC Hockey’s Rookie of the Week, according to a March 16 announcement from the conference office.

Ryan earned his third Rookie of the Week honor this season after recording three assists during Cornell’s three-game series win over Harvard at Lynah Rink. This performance helped secure Cornell’s fourth straight appearance in the championship weekend of the ECAC Hockey Championship in Lake Placid.

Ryan’s three points tied him with Clarkson defenseman Matthew Mayich for the highest point total among ECAC Hockey skaters in the quarterfinal round. His assists were also matched by his teammate Ryan Walsh and Dartmouth defenseman C.J. Foley for third-most on the weekend.

With these contributions, Ryan became only the 13th freshman in Cornell history to reach a 30-point season and just the second to do so since 2000, joining Riley Nash who achieved it in 2007-08.

Cornell is currently ranked eighth in the latest USCHO.com poll and will play fourth-seeded Princeton on Friday, March 20, at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. The semifinal game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
