Senior Mairead Clas has received First Team All-Ivy honors after finishing seventh at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships. She also earned Academic All-Ivy recognition for her achievements both in athletics and academics.

Clas completed the championship race in 21:17.7, improving from her 12th-place finish last year. Her performance was key for Cornell Big Red at the meet and concluded a strong season.

Earlier this fall, Clas started with a first-place result at the CU Opener on Cornell’s home course, recording a time of 18:29.7. She later finished 46th at the Paul Short Invitational (20:47.8) and 22nd at the Princeton Fall Classic (20:38.4), maintaining consistent results leading up to the championships.

Throughout her time at Cornell, Clas has contributed to major meets such as the Paul Short Invitational, Harry F. Anderson Invitational, and NCAA Northeast Regional. In 2024, she was second at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational (17:24.7) and placed 50th at Northeast Regionals (21:02.5).

Clas serves as team captain and joined Cornell’s program in 2022.

Before attending Cornell, Clas competed for Darien High School in Connecticut where she earned multiple All-County First Team selections and two All-State honors in cross country and indoor track. She also served as team captain and was named MVP in both sports.

Mairead Grace Clas is enrolled in Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences. Her father, Brian Clas, also ran track and cross country for Cornell.

The Big Red will compete next at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on November 15, 2025.
