Cornell’s baseball team lost to Army 12-6 on March 31 at Johnson Stadium at Doubleday Field, despite notable offensive efforts from junior infielders Kevin Hager and Luke Johnson.

The game saw both Hager and Johnson collect three hits and two runs batted in each, with Hager hitting two solo home runs. Cornell’s offense produced a total of 13 hits from nine batters, but the team fell to a season record of 4-16.

Army built momentum with five unanswered runs across the fourth and sixth innings. Five Black Knights players drove in two runs each, contributing to their team’s improvement to a 15-11 record. Nine Army players combined for eleven hits, though the team left thirteen runners stranded on base.

Cornell took an early lead after Hager’s first-inning home run, but Army responded quickly with four runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Big Red managed to narrow deficits throughout the game; however, Army consistently answered back. Sophomore catcher Mason Barela singled home Cornell’s sixth run in the seventh inning before Addison Ainsworth doubled for Army in the bottom half to cap off scoring.

Senior left-hander Noah Keller made his first start after fourteen relief appearances dating back to last season but struggled by yielding four runs on one hit over less than an inning pitched. Relievers Ross Yoshida, Andrew Houghton, and Graham Biben allowed only one run over the final two innings; Biben made his collegiate debut during this outing.

The meeting marked the seventy-sixth contest between Cornell and Army programs—the all-time series is now tied at thirty-eight wins apiece. According to game notes, it was also Cornell’s first multi-home run performance since May 2025 when Kyle Musser and Mark Quatrani accomplished similar feats against Princeton.

Looking ahead, Cornell will return home for a three-game series against Dartmouth beginning April 4 with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday morning.
