The Cornell baseball team won the series against Brown on April 26 with two victories at Attanasio Family Field at Murray Stadium, including a resumed game from Saturday and an 8-3 win in the series finale.
The outcome matters as it narrows Brown’s historical lead in their all-time matchups and marks consecutive series wins for Cornell over Brown for the first time since the early 2010s. The Big Red have now won five of their last seven games against the Bears.
In the completion of Saturday’s suspended game, senior shortstop TJ Swidorski delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 13th inning. Senior right-hander Ethan Hamill entered as relief in the bottom half to secure a double play that ended the game. Freshman Ross Yoshida pitched seven innings on Saturday, allowing one run and earning his first win, while Hamill recorded his second career save.
During Sunday’s regular contest, six Cornell players had two hits each to contribute to a total of fourteen hits. Sophomore catcher Mason Barela, senior center fielder Caden Wildman, junior second baseman Luke Johnson, freshman right fielder Jake Hower, Swidorski and sophomore outfielder Tyler Beaulieu each had multiple hits. Hower led with multiple RBIs. Hamill started on Sunday after pitching relief earlier that day and earned his first victory since May 2024 by allowing three runs over five innings. Freshman Michael Tight secured his first collegiate save by closing out four scoreless innings.
Game notes show that Swidorski extended his on-base streak to eleven games and has driven in runs consistently over recent matches. Beaulieu also extended his own streak to eight games reaching base safely. Tight has thrown nearly nine shutout innings across three appearances with strong strikeout numbers.
Cornell has played five straight errorless games for what is believed to be at least forty seasons—a span covering more than thirty-nine innings without an error.
Looking ahead, Cornell will return home on Tuesday, April 28 for a four-game homestand against Bucknell at Booth Field.
