The Cornell men’s golf team finished tied for ninth place at the Roar-EE Invitational on Apr. 18, posting a two-round total score of 580 (+4) at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, New York.
The event featured a field of 15 teams competing on the par-72, 6,877-yard course. Cornell opened with a round of 293 (+5) before improving to a team score of 287 (-1) in the second round. The Big Red ended up sharing ninth place with Siena and Fordham.
Fairfield University won the team title with an overall score of 561 (-15). Columbia and Iona tied for second place, both finishing at 567 (-9).
Tyler Debusschere led Cornell’s individual performances by tying for 24th overall after rounds of 74 and a one-under-par 71, marking his second under-par round this season. Three other Cornell players—TJ Betlow, Shep Davis, and Adithya Venkataraghavan—each tied for 42nd with scores of 147 (+3). Betlow recorded rounds of 77 and a career-low closing round of 70. Davis posted scores of 74 and 73, while Venkataraghavan shot an opening-round one-under-par-71 followed by a second-round score of 76. Weston Warden also finished tied for forty-second after shooting rounds of 74 and then matching Davis’s second-round score.
Javier Benerofe participated as an individual competitor for Cornell and tied for sixty-third after carding rounds of seventy-seven and seventy-three to finish six over par.
Fairfield’s Rasmus Ditzinger claimed medalist honors with an eleven-under-par total after shooting rounds of sixty-eight and sixty-five.
