Cornell men’s heavyweight rowing lost all four races to Harvard in the Robinson Cup on April 4, with competition taking place on the Charles River.
The event is significant as it marks Cornell’s second regatta of the spring season and highlights the team’s performance against a strong Harvard program. The conditions were challenging, with shifting winds and gusts between 10 and 15 mph affecting the water.
Harvard led from start to finish in each race. In the varsity eight, Harvard finished with a time of 5:37.432 while Cornell posted a time of 5:48.784. The second varsity eight saw Harvard win in 5:47.426 compared to Cornell’s 6:02.234. In the third varsity eight, Harvard clocked in at 5:54.898 while Cornell finished at 6:08.248. The closest contest was in the fourth varsity eight, where Harvard edged out Cornell by just over four seconds.
The results come after a strong showing by Harvard earlier this season at the Sarasota Invitational, where its third varsity crew swept Washington and its second varsity split results with them.
Cornell Big Red Men’s Rowing – Heavyweight is affiliated with Cornell University and competes in the Ivy League, according to the official website. Looking ahead, Cornell will compete again next Saturday when it travels to Saratoga Springs for a race against Boston University on Fish Creek.
