Cornell men’s lacrosse defeated Dartmouth 15-9 on Apr. 18, after a decisive six-goal run late in the game at Scully-Fahey Field. The win improved Cornell’s record to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in Ivy League play.
The victory is significant as it extends Cornell’s winning streak over Dartmouth to 14 consecutive games and keeps the team unbeaten at Scully-Fahey Field. This result also strengthens Cornell’s position within the conference as they approach the end of regular season play.
Cornell built a halftime lead of 6-4 but saw Dartmouth respond with three straight goals, including two by Alex Jessely, who finished with three goals and two assists. Freshman Rowyn Nurry tied the game late in the third quarter, sparking a six-goal run that gave Cornell control of the match. Junior Ryan Goldstein led offensively with five goals and one assist, moving into tenth place all-time for career points at Cornell.
Other key contributors included Nurry with three goals—two coming in the final period—and junior Willem Firth who had three goals and an assist. Sophomore Jack Herendeen scored twice during the critical stretch, while senior Jack Cascadden dominated faceoffs by winning 19 out of 23 draws and collecting fifteen ground balls.
Goalkeeper Matthew Tully made thirteen saves as Cornell held Dartmouth scoreless during crucial moments of the fourth quarter. The Big Red ended both halves strongly, finishing each with two unanswered goals.
Looking ahead, Cornell will close its regular season against Harvard on April 25 at Schoellkopf Field.
