The Cornell men’s hockey team will play against Denver in the NCAA Division I Men’s Hockey Championship regional round on March 27 at Blue Arena in Loveland, Colorado. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Eastern Time and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
This marks the fourth consecutive season and the 26th time overall that Cornell has qualified for the NCAA tournament. The team’s current run of four straight appearances matches a previous streak from 1967 to 1970.
Cornell, seeded third with a record of 22-10-1, will take on second-seeded and fourth-ranked Denver, which holds a record of 25-11-3. Last year, Cornell advanced past top-seeded Michigan State with a late power-play goal before falling to Boston University in overtime during the next round.
Denver enters Friday’s contest having won its last nine games and remains unbeaten over its past thirteen outings. Defenseman Eric Pohlkamp leads Denver’s offense with seventeen goals and thirty-seven points this season. Other key contributors include Rieger Lorenz, Sam Harris, and James Reeder—all surpassing thirty points each. Goaltender Johnny Hicks has allowed just sixteen goals over his last eight hundred forty minutes played, while Quentin Miller has started all twenty-five of his appearances this season.
Friday’s game will be the fifteenth meeting between Cornell and Denver overall; Denver leads the series eight wins to six. It is also their third encounter in the NCAA tournament within four years and seventh overall meeting at this stage. The winner of Friday’s matchup will advance to play either Western Michigan or Minnesota State on Sunday.
