The Cornell men’s lightweight rowing team achieved two second-place finishes at the 2025 Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Sunday. The team secured silver medals in both the Men’s Lightweight Eights and Fours events.
Cornell’s varsity eight finished with a time of 14:06.584, placing them behind Harvard, which took first place. In the Lightweight Fours, Cornell’s A entry also earned a runner-up position with a time of 15:53.737, while the B boat finished in 12th place.
In the Men’s Lightweight Four event, Cornell’s A-crew started strong from Bow 5 and maintained second place throughout each checkpoint—Riverside (3:38.380), Weld (8:39.970), and Cambridge Boat Club (13:04.010)—before finishing just behind Harvard.
The B-boat, starting from Bow 8, remained steady in the middle positions through each split and held its standing to finish 12th overall.
For the Men’s Lightweight Eight race, Cornell opened quickly by passing Riverside in 3:13.471 and Weld in 7:40.703 before reaching Cambridge Boat Club at 11:38.427. The crew completed the course second only to Harvard, with Penn taking third.
The lineup for Cornell’s boats included Theodore Holtman, Graydon Raabe, Luke Zaslow, Jonathan Mayer, and coxswain Rhea Kaycee in one four; Nicholas Hlinka, Ryan Aghazadeh, Rahil Dundon, Francis Lau, and coxswain Amanda Johnson in another; as well as Eliott Swinney, Cruz Erdmann, Maximilian Purcea, Colin Bailey, Nathan Bechard, Owen Brown, Eric Genden, Andrew Hohlt, and coxswain Aden Walsey for the eight.
