The Cornell men’s polo team secured a 15-12 win over the St. Croix Polo Club on Friday evening at Oxley Equestrian Center in Ithaca, New York. The victory improved Cornell’s record to 4-0 as they began a stretch of three games over the weekend.

Benito Jaramillo-Samper led the Big Red with seven goals, while teammates Malachi Light and Max Sponer each contributed four goals. Despite falling behind 4-0 early and trailing 5-2 after the first chukker and 7-5 in the second, Cornell mounted a comeback with a 7-1 run that gave them a 12-8 lead entering the fourth period.

St. Croix responded in the final chukker with three consecutive goals to narrow Cornell’s lead to one, but Sponer and Jaramillo-Samper added crucial goals before Light sealed the win late in the game.

Cornell is scheduled to play Babson on Saturday, November 1 at 7 p.m., followed by a match against Harvard on Sunday, November 2 at 11 a.m.
