The Cornell men’s tennis team defeated Brown University 4-1 in an Ivy League match on April 5, improving its season record to 13-3 and its conference record to 1-1. The match took place at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Providence, Rhode Island.

This win was important for Cornell after a previous conference loss, helping the team regain momentum as it moves through the Ivy League schedule. Brown’s record fell to 15-10 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Cornell secured the doubles point with victories from Petar Teodorovic and Felipe Pinzon at No. 3 doubles (6-1), followed by Rodrigo Fernandes and Eric Verdes at No. 1 doubles (6-3). The No. 2 doubles match was not completed once the point was clinched.

In singles competition, Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar won his match at No. 5 with a score of 6-1, 6-2, marking his nineteenth victory of the season and bringing his dual-match record to ten wins and one loss. Aman Sharma added another point for Cornell with a straight-set win at No. 6 singles (6-3, 6-3). Brown’s Noah Hernandez earned their only point by defeating Eric Verdes at No.2 singles in straight sets.

Rodrigo Fernandes clinched the overall victory for Cornell with a straight-set win over Ivan Sodan at No.1 singles, earning his twentieth win of the year—a team best so far this season. Matches at Nos.3 and Nos.4 singles were left unfinished after Cornell secured enough points for victory.

Looking ahead, Cornell will play Princeton away on Friday, AprilĀ 10 before returning home to face Penn on Sunday, AprilĀ 12.
