The Cornell men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams will divide their efforts between two meets on April 11, with athletes competing both at the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and at the Big Red Invite hosted in Ithaca.
This dual schedule allows Cornell to participate in regional competition while also testing select distance runners against a national field. The Big Red Invite will take place at Kane Sports Complex, featuring a full squad from Cornell as they compete against teams including Binghamton, Bridgeport, Buffalo, Colgate, Cortland State, Ithaca College, Le Moyne, SUNY Geneseo and Syracuse. Events are set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday and continue through Sunday.
Live results for the home meet will be available on leonetiming.com. Those interested can access the full meet schedule online.
Meanwhile, a group of Cornell’s distance runners will travel to Bucknell University for the Bison Outdoor Classic. Athletes specializing in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter events will participate throughout Saturday in both unseeded and invitational sections. The first event starts with the women’s unseeded 1,500 meters at 1 p.m., concluding with the men’s invitational 5,000 meters scheduled for 8:55 p.m. Live streaming of these races is offered by FloTrack; results will also be posted by Leone Timing.
Cornell officials say that this weekend’s competitions offer an important chance to gain experience early in the season by combining large-scale team participation on their home track with high-level distance racing away from campus.
