The Cornell women’s rowing team lost all six races to No. 3 Yale and No. 9 Syracuse at the Cayuga Cup on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., according to an April 4 announcement.

The event marked Cornell’s first road competition of the spring season, with strong performances from both Yale and Syracuse. The results highlight the challenges faced by Cornell as they compete against nationally ranked teams early in their schedule.

Yale won each race from start to finish. In the varsity eight, Yale finished with a time of 6:12.804, followed by Syracuse at 6:14.354 and Cornell at 6:34.014. The second varsity eight saw similar results, with Yale clocking in at 6:19.930, Syracuse at 6:22.670, and Cornell finishing in 6:50.490.

In other events, Yale continued its winning streak in the third varsity eight (6:38.382), first varsity four (7:12.570), second varsity four (7:12.710), and third varsity four (7:32.870). In most races, Cornell trailed behind both competitors but closed the gap slightly in the third varsity four event.

Racing conditions included a tail wind that diminished as the afternoon progressed.

Cornell will next compete against No. 7 Princeton and No. 13 Harvard for the Class of 1975 Cup next weekend in Princeton, New Jersey.
