The Cornell women’s cross country team is preparing to compete in the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship this Friday, October 31, at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. The event, hosted by Columbia University, will begin at 11:00 a.m., and results will be available online at http://bit.ly/4oeQZC5.

Mike Henderson, the Alan B. ’53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Cross Country, commented on the level of competition in the league: “The Ivy League is one of the strongest leagues in the country, we genuinely are. It’s very competitive, Harvard and Princeton will inevitably be strong and we expect both of them to be at nationals as well. On the women’s side, places 3rd through 8th are always really close which makes competition fun and exciting… but it also means you’ve got to be on your game.”

Last season, Cornell’s women’s squad finished sixth at the championship. They aim to improve their standing this year based on their performances during the fall season. Coach Henderson added that success depends on “who shows up the day of the race and puts it together.”
