The Cornell women’s fencing team is set to compete at the Vassar Invitational in Poughkeepsie, New York, on Sunday, November 9. The event will feature matchups against several teams throughout the day, beginning with Yale at 10 a.m., followed by Hunter, Wagner, Brown, Vassar, Drew, Tufts, and Sacred Heart.

Cornell began its season with a strong showing at the Drew Invitational. The team posted an undefeated record of 5-0 and achieved a combined score of 106-25 across all bouts. Individual performances included Brianna Lee’s 13-2 result in foil competition, Emersyn Runions’ 11-1 finish in epee, and Mia Hsu leading the sabre squad with a 10-2 mark.

Reflecting on last year’s performance at the Vassar Invitational on November 11, 2024, Cornell secured seven victories. The team defeated No. 12 Yale and two nationally-ranked Division III opponents while achieving a total individual bout record of 156-33 for the day. According to the release: “The Big Red cruised through the day until it came to the final matchup of the day with the Bulldogs. Cornell won 21-6 or better, including a shutout of the host school Vassar by a 27-0 margin. The sabre group was the difference against Yale, going 6-3 after the teams split foil and epee.”

Following this weekend’s competition at Vassar Invitational, Cornell will travel to Waltham, Massachusetts for participation in the Brandeis Invitational on Sunday, December 7.
