The Cornell women’s ice hockey team, ranked fourth nationally, secured a 5-1 victory over the fifteenth-ranked Brown Bears on Saturday at Lynah Rink. With this win, Cornell extended its undefeated streak to 7-0-0 for the season, while Brown’s record moved to 3-2-1.

Cornell’s offensive effort was led by Georgia Schiff, who scored twice. Alyssa Regalado, Karel Prefontaine, and Mckenna Van Gelder also contributed goals. Assists were provided by Prefontaine, Nora Curtis, Delaney Fleming, Lindzi Avar (two), Grace Dwyer (two), Avi Adam, and Schiff.

Goaltender Annelies Bergmann made 18 saves during the game—nine in the first period, six in the second, and three in the third—maintaining her perfect record at 7-0-0 this season.

Regalado opened the scoring at 13:08 of the first period with a power-play goal assisted by Prefontaine and Curtis. Schiff added another goal just before the end of the first period to give Cornell a 2-0 lead.

In the second period, Schiff scored again with an assist from Dwyer. This was the only goal of that period for either team.

Prefontaine increased Cornell’s lead to 4-0 with another power-play goal early in the third period. Brown’s Sam Broz ended Bergmann’s shutout bid at 12:18 in the final frame. Van Gelder sealed Cornell’s win with a third power-play goal late in the game.

Cornell successfully killed both of Brown’s power plays during the match.

The Big Red will next face Colgate in a home-and-away series beginning Friday, November 14th at Class of 1965 Arena. The teams will meet again at Lynah Rink on Saturday, October 15th at 3:00 p.m., with both games scheduled for broadcast on ESPN+.
