The Cornell women’s rowing team hosted Boston University and George Washington on March 28, racing over 2,000 meters in challenging conditions on the Cayuga Inlet.

The event saw teams competing under strong headwinds and variable gusts throughout the day. The competition included both morning and afternoon sessions with several different boat classes taking part.

In the morning session, Cornell’s first varsity eight (1V8+) narrowly lost to Boston University but later defeated George Washington by nearly five seconds in the afternoon. The second varsity eight (2V8+) also fell short to Boston University by less than two seconds before winning against George Washington by just over fifteen seconds later in the day. Both Cornell’s first and second varsity four boats finished second to Boston University but swept their events against George Washington during the afternoon races. In another race, Boston University’s entry edged out George Washington with Cornell finishing third.

Cornell also raced Colgate in both morning and afternoon fields, sweeping those contests as well. Detailed results show competitive times across all categories, reflecting close margins between many of the teams.

Lineups for each boat were listed for transparency, highlighting athletes such as Emmy Tyrcha (coxswain) for 1V8+, Isabella Capelli (stroke), Alexis Engman, Eleanor Bijeau, Elise Rueppel among others across various lineups.

Looking ahead, Cornell is set to travel to Saratoga Springs next weekend for its annual Cayuga Cup race where it will face Yale and Syracuse on April 4.
