The Cornell women’s rowing team is preparing to compete at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Saturday, October 25. The team is coming off a bronze-medal finish at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, where its V4+ crew earned the program’s first medal at that event since 2017.

Cornell will have 10 entries across five events at this weekend’s regatta. The events include Women’s Collegiate Eight, Women’s Collegiate 2V Eight with three entries, Collegiate Frosh/Novice Four, Collegiate Four with four entries, and Collegiate Frosh/Novice Eight. Racing is scheduled to begin at 1:09 p.m. with the Women’s Collegiate Eight.

Reflecting on last year’s performance at the Head of the Fish Regatta, Cornell secured four medals. The V8+ and 2V8+ ‘A’ crews both took silver, while the V4+ ‘A’ crew won gold and its ‘B’ boat claimed bronze. The novice 8+ also finished first in its field. In total, six out of ten Cornell entries placed in the top five during the 2023 event.

The team is looking to build on its recent success as it continues its fall season. According to the press release, “With confidence building from the Head of the Charles and a proven track record at Head of the Fish, the Big Red will aim to add to its medal collection as they continue their fall season.”

Boat lineups for Saturday’s races are yet to be announced.

The schedule for Saturday’s events is as follows:
– 1:09 p.m.: Women’s Collegiate Eight
– 1:20 p.m.: Women’s Collegiate 2V Eight
– 1:50 p.m.: Women’s Collegiate Frosh/Novice Four
– 3:37 p.m.: Women’s Collegiate Four
– 3:56 p.m.: Women’s Collegiate Frosh/Novice Eight
