Cornell women’s volleyball wins five-set match against Princeton to remain unbeaten in Ivy League

Cornell women’s volleyball secured a narrow victory over Princeton in a five-set match held at Dillon Gymnasium on Friday night. The final scores were 25–21, 25–22, 26–28, 24–26, and 18–16.

The Big Red established an early advantage by winning the first two sets with strong play at the net and effective setting. Princeton responded by taking the next two sets in close contests. In the decisive fifth set, Cornell overcame a deficit to win and maintain its unbeaten record in Ivy League play.

Eliza Konvicka led Cornell with 22 kills, averaging 4.4 per set and adding nine digs and five blocks. Mackenzie Parsons contributed 18 kills on a .406 attack percentage, while Meghan Gaffigan added 12 kills and two blocks. Setters Mikayla Gray and Doga Ozalp combined for 67 assists as four Cornell players hit above .300 for the match.

On defense, libero Sarita Pomar recorded 17 digs, with Gray adding 10 more. The team finished with a total of 65 digs, ten team blocks, and six service aces.

The match saw Cornell take control early in the first set with a .406 hitting percentage. In the second set, timely plays from Konvicka and Bogan helped secure another win despite several service errors. Princeton rallied in the third set after trailing late to force extra points and eventually took both the third and fourth sets by narrow margins.

In the fifth set, Cornell trailed but managed to save two match points before clinching victory on an emphatic kill by Parsons.

With this result, Cornell remains at the top of the Ivy League standings as the only unbeaten team in conference play. The team is scheduled to face UPenn next at Rockwell Gymnasium.
