A man convicted of the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Farmington nearly 39 years ago is facing a parole hearing this month. The case has garnered attention after a petition to keep Greg Flint imprisoned reached 10,000 signatures.
Ackerman’s family, along with local leaders, made a public plea on Thursday to prevent Flint from being released. State Senator Pam Helming urged her constituents to support Lorraine’s Law, which is currently under consideration in Albany. This proposed legislation would extend the time between parole hearings for violent offenders from 24 to 60 months.
“No family should have to fear that the murderer who destroyed their world might walk free,” said Helming.
