UR Medicine Thompson Health recently recognized five associates with Service Excellence Awards for the first quarter of 2025. The awards, determined by the Service Excellence Team (SET), are based on commendations from patients, families, and colleagues.

Melissa Thran, a Certified Nursing Assistant at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, was honored for her efforts to make Christmas special for residents. “Melissa looks at the residents as an extension of her family and treats them all as if they were her loved ones,” a colleague mentioned. Thran resides in Clifton Springs.

Arlana Rodriguez, a Patient Care Technician on hospital floor 3 West, received recognition for supporting a patient facing a tough night. “Arlana’s bubbly personality and unwavering kindness make a meaningful difference for our patients daily,” a coworker commented. Rodriguez is from Rochester.

Leah Galens, another Patient Care Technician on hospital floor 3 West, was acknowledged for her commitment to exceptional patient care. A family member expressed gratitude, saying, “We appreciated the energy and willingness to make sure he was well taken care of.” Galens resides in Dundee.

Kali Ham, a Patient Care Technician from Interventional Radiology, was distinguished for her vigilance in the Birthing Center, where she spotted an expiration sticker on a car seat. “This could have been a huge safety risk and concern if the patient used it. She saved the day and kept baby safe!” a colleague noted. Ham lives in Canandaigua.

Tawny Kelledy, Recreational Therapy Manager at the M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center, was applauded for organizing holiday meals and a tree lighting ceremony. “Tawny dedicates all her energy, compassion, and genuine care to her residents, going above and beyond just doing her job,” a coworker wrote. Kelledy is a resident of Canandaigua.
