Cornell baseball lost to Harvard, 16-3, on March 30 at Booth Field as the Crimson scored 13 unanswered runs to secure the series victory.
The game saw Harvard’s offense led by Jack Rickheim, Gio Colasante, and Max Lane, who combined for nine hits and fifteen runs batted in. Rickheim and Lane each hit a double and two home runs. The win improved Harvard’s record to 4-15 overall and 3-3 in Ivy League play.
Harvard took an early lead with a three-run home run from Lane in the first inning. Cornell responded with two runs in the bottom of the first but could not keep pace as Colasante hit a three-run homer for Harvard in the second inning. The Crimson added four more runs in both the second and third innings, including another RBI double from Rickheim and a bases-clearing double by Lane.
Cornell pitchers struggled against Harvard’s lineup. Ethan Hamill allowed seven runs over less than two innings while Michael Tight gave up another seven over nearly two innings of relief. Max Foster provided some stability out of the bullpen before Josh Shea and Andrew Houghton combined for three scoreless frames late in the game.
Harvard increased its all-time series lead over Cornell to 117-62 with this victory. Ashkinos recorded his first extra-base hit for Cornell with a pinch-hit RBI double in the ninth inning. Aiden Barclay extended his hitting streak to six games, while Owen Carslon holds Cornell’s longest active streak at seven games despite not playing during this series.
Cornell is scheduled to play Army on March 31 at Johnson Stadium at Doubleday Field. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
