Senator Helming recognized Karen Dewar, a nurse and first responder, as the 2025 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction for the 54th District. The recognition took place at the Livingston County Board of Supervisors meeting.

Senator Helming stated, “Through her professional and volunteer work, Karen has demonstrated how essential nurses and EMS professionals are to our communities and residents who rely on lifesaving medical care. She is an incredible example to individuals entering the healthcare and EMS fields, and especially to young women.”

In addition, Assemblywoman Andrea Bailey honored Holly Watson, Livingston County Historian, as the 2024 Woman of Distinction.
