Kristine Gulesano, who works in the Department of Social Services, described her responsibilities as the Commissioner’s Secretary in a statement released on Mar. 19.

Gulesano said her job involves a wide range of tasks related to human resources and administrative support for the agency. She explained that she is responsible for tracking vacant positions, processing new hires, managing HR paperwork through NeoGov, and handling background checks using several state and local databases. In addition, she manages employee records, tracks probationary periods, and notifies supervisors about performance evaluations.

Her duties also include maintaining workplace safety documentation, completing Workers’ Compensation claims and OSHA reports, drafting letters and agendas for meetings, serving as a liaison with Verizon for employee equipment needs, updating the department website, and overseeing contracts to ensure they meet county requirements. Gulesano said she facilitates over 100 contracts annually by entering them into the ERP system.

Reflecting on her career with the county, Gulesano said: “In the twenty-five years of working for the County, I have worked for five Commissioners. Each brought their own perspective to the position.”

When asked about her favorite hobby and place to relax in the county, Gulesano named reading as her preferred pastime and identified The Greenway trail as her favorite spot.
