Assemblyman John Lemondes (R,C-LaFayette) has expressed his appreciation for President Donald J. Trump following the recent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of 20 Israeli hostages. The hostages had been held for more than two years after being captured during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
In his statement, Lemondes said, “The return of these brave men and women to their families is a moving sight, and I thank President Trump and his leadership for delivering this powerful victory for humanity and for our ally, Israel. Peace happens through strength, and with the help of our allies in the region and the president’s resolve, these hostages are now home, and a ceasefire is secured. This is what effective, no-nonsense diplomacy achieves.”
The ceasefire and hostage release were the result of a U.S.-brokered agreement that ended the hostages’ captivity.
