The Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation announced on Mar. 9 that it has received a 2026 Arts Ignite grant to expand free arts programming for residents and the local community.
The grant is funded through the Aid to Localities Program, with support from the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts and the New York State Senate. This funding will allow the CNR Resident Craft Club to continue its tradition of offering free craft activities and guest presenters, marking its fifteenth year at the facility.
Pam Hill, coordinator of the Resident Craft Club, said, “Creative and enriching activities like these help our residents stay motivated and independent. These visual arts sessions do more than improve hand-eye coordination – they help residents create new cherished memories to share with their loved ones.”
The Center is a 266-bed facility providing round-the-clock skilled nursing and rehabilitative care. The upcoming Resident Craft Club program features a variety of events across different neighborhoods within the facility, including Garden of Life Adult Day Services. All events are open to both residents and members of the public at no cost.
Scheduled activities include Chair Yoga and Tai Chi sessions led by Monica Jarzyna in March, wood buffalo painting workshops throughout March and early April, tissue paper flower-making classes with Kathy Williamson in April, and ‘Paint a Bison’ sessions in June led by Nunda-based artist Don Hooker. The club also meets regularly on Sundays when permitted at its Mount Morris location.
The CNR aims to provide services ranging from post-acute rehabilitation to long-term care while fostering a homelike environment through community integration and volunteer involvement. More information about upcoming events can be found on Livingston County’s official website or social media channels.
