The Livingston County Department of Health announced on Mar. 20 that it will partner with Geneseo Central School to hold a Community Wellness Fair on April 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Geneseo Central School, located at 4050 Avon-Geneseo Road in Geneseo.

The event is open to all members of the public and aims to connect residents with local health and social services. Organizers say attendees can expect sensory-friendly toys and crafts, physical activities, light refreshments, community resource information, face painting, and raffles.

Jill Burley, deputy director of the Livingston County Department of Health, said, “This event is a wonderful opportunity to bring together the programs and community organizations that work every day to support the health and well-being of residents in Livingston County. We hope everyone who attends will leave with something useful, whether it’s a new connection or learning about a resource right here in our community that they didn’t know existed.”

The fair is co-hosted by five Health Department programs: Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Perinatal Infant Community Health Collaborative (PICHC), Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN), Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, and Early Intervention Program. These initiatives focus on serving young residents and vulnerable families by providing access to important health resources in a family-friendly setting.

Nearly two dozen community organizations are expected to participate in the event, including the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, MVP Health Care, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County Traffic Safety Program, MidWest Family and Community Engagement Center, CASA Trinity, Pregnancy Resource Center of the Valleys, Coordinated Care Services Inc., Fidelis Care, Genesee County Health Department, Upstate New York Poison Center, The WNY Children’s Advocacy Network, GLOW OUT!, KidStart, Catholic Charities Steuben Livingston/Healthy Families, RESTORE, Adventures in Recovery, Suicide Prevention Task Force, Livingston County Libraries (Youth Services), Empower Martial Arts and others.

“Events like this really show the strength of our partnerships in the community,” Burley added. “When organizations come together with a shared commitment to public health, it can make a real difference in the lives of our residents.”

No registration is required for attendance. Organizers encourage those needing transportation assistance to call 585-243-7299 for possible resources. For more information about the event or available services from the county health department call 585-243-7270.
