Cornell men’s lacrosse junior Matthew Tully was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, according to a March 23 announcement from the conference office on social media.

Tully received the honor after making 15 saves in Cornell’s 13-11 victory over No. 3 Princeton on Saturday, March 15. His performance helped hold Princeton to just one goal in the fourth quarter and contributed to Cornell improving its record to 2-0 in Ivy League play and 5-2 overall this season.

The game marked Tully’s fifth outing this year with double-digit saves. His total was just one short of his career-high of 16 saves, which he set earlier this season against Richmond. Over seven games so far, Tully has posted a .532 save percentage and a goals-against average of 10.63, with a total of 83 saves.

Looking ahead, Tully and the Big Red will return to Schoellkopf Field for their next contest against Yale on Saturday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. The matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
