Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reported that deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at approximately 6:47 a.m. on February 11, 2026. The incident occurred near the intersection of County Road 131 and West Wycoff Road in the Town of Ovid.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze blocking the northbound lane and a 2010 Toyota Sienna obstructing the southbound lane on County Road 131. The driver of the Cruze was identified as Nathaniel B. Wickham, 24, from Watkins Glen, New York. The Sienna was operated by Juan D. Lopez-Hernandez, 43, of Geneva, New York. Three additional passengers were in the Sienna: Antonio A. Aguilera, 52; Israel Zavala, 30; and Alfonso Mosqueda-Zavala, 30—all from Geneva.

According to the sheriff’s report: “Wickham attempted to navigate a slight right-hand turn when he lost control of his vehicle causing his vehicle to slide into the southbound lane of traffic subsequently striking Lopez-Hernandez’s vehicle head on.” Both drivers and all passengers sustained injuries that required transportation to local hospitals.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage and were removed from the scene by tow trucks.

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from several area fire departments including Ovid, Lodi, and Interlaken Fire Departments as well as South Seneca Ambulance, Trumansburg Ambulance, and Bangs Ambulance.
