Registered Nurse Lauren Lovin, who works overnight in the Emergency Department at UR Medicine Thompson Health, has been awarded the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence. Lovin, a resident of Bloomfield and part of Thompson since 2021, was nominated by a patient’s mother impressed with her compassion and professionalism.

“From the moment she approached my son, it was evident that her caring demeanor and soothing words helped alleviate his anxiety,” said the nomination. The mother noted Lovin’s technical skills and profound empathy, which made her feel safe leaving her son under Lovin’s care while attending to a newborn at home.

On July 3, during an award presentation as she completed her shift, Lovin received a certificate, a pin, and a hand-carved sculpture called A Healer’s Touch. As a DAISY recipient, she is eligible for scholarships, discounts on certifications, and medical mission grants from The DAISY Foundation.
