Cornell women’s basketball junior Rachel Kaus was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Mar. 24.
The recognition highlights student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. The honor is given to those with at least a 3.5 grade point average who either play in at least 90 percent of their team’s games or start in at least two-thirds of them.
Kaus started all 27 games for Cornell during the 2025-26 season, leading her team with an average of 11.2 points per game and ranking second in rebounds with an average of 4.7 per contest. She scored double figures in 17 games, including a career-high performance of 25 points against Penn on Feb. 13, where she made eleven out of twenty shots from the field. Kaus also recorded a double-double against Mercyhurst on Nov. 14 with eighteen points and thirteen rebounds, and led Cornell in scoring nine times throughout the season.
She finished her junior year shooting nearly forty-four percent from the field, over thirty-six percent from three-point range, and seventy-six percent from the free throw line.
Cornell Big Red Women’s Basketball is based in Ithaca, New York and competes as part of Cornell University’s intercollegiate athletics program according to the official website. The team plays in the Ivy League according to the official website and has previously won Ivy League championships in both 2008 and 2014 according to the official website.
This season Cornell finished with a record of nine wins and eighteen losses overall, including four wins within conference play.
