Cornell junior attackman Ryan Goldstein was named the Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week, according to an April 27 announcement from the conference.
Goldstein received this recognition after his performance in No. 6 Cornell’s recent game against No. 10 Harvard, where he scored four goals and made three assists, totaling seven points. The match ended with an 11-9 victory for Cornell at Schoellkopf Field and secured the program’s 34th Ivy League regular season championship.
During the game, Goldstein played a key role as Cornell overcame a deficit. With Cornell trailing by three goals in the second quarter, he contributed one goal and assisted on two others during a four-goal run that gave his team a halftime lead. In the fourth quarter, with the score tied at nine, Goldstein scored what would become the game-winning goal with just over three minutes left and later assisted on another goal to secure the win.
Goldstein currently leads Cornell in assists this season with 26 and is second in goals scored with 30. He also ranks third among all players in the Ivy League for both assists per game (2.00) and points per game (4.31).
Cornell is set to host the upcoming Ivy League Tournament beginning May 1 at Schoellkopf Field.
