Senator Pam Helming is organizing a community blood drive in Canandaigua on August 25. The event will be held from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post 256. Helming is partnering with the American Red Cross and the local American Legion to respond to an ongoing shortage of blood donations, which tends to worsen during the summer.

“Every donation has the power to save up to three lives,” said Senator Helming. “Blood donations are urgently needed which is why I am partnering with the American Red Cross and our local American Legion to address this shortage. This is a great opportunity for everyone who is eligible to donate to make a positive difference. Make an appointment today and help save a life.”

The Red Cross reports that demand for blood remains high during summer months as donation rates typically fall. Residents who are eligible are encouraged to sign up ahead of time by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visiting redcrossblood.org using sponsor code: AmericanLegion256. Walk-ins will be accepted but may experience longer wait times due to appointment priorities.

For additional information, individuals can contact Senator Helming’s District Office at (315) 568-9816.
