Seneca County deputies credited with lifesaving response after Fayette car accident

On February 11, 2026, Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a personal injury accident in the Town of Fayette at approximately 3:48 PM. According to Sheriff Tim Thompson, Michael Montanez-Sanchez of Webster, New York was driving northbound on State Route 96 when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole.

Deputies arriving at the scene provided immediate medical assistance to Montanez-Sanchez, who had suffered a lower extremity injury. They applied a tourniquet before North Seneca Ambulance arrived for further treatment and transport.

A paramedic at the scene stated, “The Deputies’ quick action and application of a tourniquet without a doubt helped save the driver’s life.”

The Fayette Fire Department assisted with traffic control and removal of the vehicle from the scene. NYSEG was called to address issues related to the damaged utility pole.

Seneca County Sheriff reports arrest in larceny case in Tyre

Denise Picciano of Auburn was arrested on a warrant from Tyre for grand larceny and petit larceny. She was arraigned and released after being turned over by Cayuga County deputies to Seneca County authorities.
