The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Civil Division has received reaccreditation status for another five years from the New York State Sheriffs’ Association, according to an announcement by Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson, Jr. on April 9.

The reaccreditation follows an on-site assessment to confirm that the division is following best practices and meeting professional standards. This recognition is seen as important for maintaining high levels of service and accountability within the department.

Sheriff Thompson said, “I want to thank our members for once again achieving reaccreditation status in our Civil Division. This is a testament to their dedication and hard work. The accreditation program is not an easy task, and it requires constant work to ensure that agencies are consistently following the latest professional standards.”

He also noted that in the past twelve months, all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office have undergone similar assessments and have successfully maintained their accredited status. “In the last twelve months, the Sheriff’s Office has undergone reaccreditation assessments in all Divisions, and I am very proud to say that we have been successful in each of them. Our members deserve all of the credit, and they should be very proud of their excellent work,” Thompson said.

Accreditation programs like this one are designed to ensure law enforcement agencies meet established benchmarks for professionalism and quality service. The achievement reflects ongoing efforts by staff members across divisions.

Looking ahead, continued compliance with accreditation standards will remain a focus for the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office as it seeks to maintain its standing with oversight organizations.
