Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson said on Mar. 30 that deputies arrested Shawn Steen of Interlaken, New York, following an incident in the Village of Interlaken. The arrest took place on Mar. 29 at approximately 5:21 p.m.

The case is significant because it involves multiple serious charges including three counts of menacing in the second degree, two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration.

According to Thompson, deputies responded to a dispute where Steen allegedly threatened three people with a baseball bat. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he resisted arrest and fled on foot before being apprehended after a short pursuit.

Steen was taken to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office where he awaits arraignment at CAP Court.

The sheriff’s office did not release further details about the victims or any injuries resulting from the incident.
