Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson announced on April 16 that deputies arrested Phillip Forte, age 67, of Rochester, New York, on charges stemming from an incident in the Town of Tyre. The arrest followed notification from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office that they had Forte in custody for unrelated offenses.

The case is significant as it involves allegations of both criminal mischief and assault resulting from an altercation inside a local business. Authorities say the incident occurred in May 2025 and resulted in physical injury to another patron and damage to the victim’s cell phone.

According to Thompson, “Deputies confirmed the active arrest warrant and arranged a location to meet with MCSO for a custody exchange. Upon arrival, the subject was identified as Phillip Forte.” The sheriff said Forte was wanted for one count of Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree and Assault in the third degree, both misdemeanors.

Forte was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Seneca County Law Enforcement Center. There he was processed by law enforcement staff before being transferred to correctional officers to await arraignment in CAP Court.

No additional background information about Forte or further details about court proceedings were provided at this time.
