On January 8, 2026, Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson announced the arrest of Richard Dickinson, age 33, from Lyons, New York. The arrest took place in the Town of Seneca Falls at approximately 3:30 PM.

According to Sheriff Thompson, “Sheriff’s Deputies arrested RICHARD DICKINSON, age 33, of Lyons, NY in the Town of Seneca Falls for Driving While Intoxicated (misdemeanor).”

The incident began with a traffic stop after deputies noticed that Dickinson’s vehicle had an expired inspection sticker and a non-functioning tail lamp. They also found that his license plates were suspended. During the investigation, deputies observed signs that Dickinson had consumed alcohol and discovered several empty alcoholic beverage containers inside the vehicle.

Dickinson was given field sobriety tests and subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. He submitted to a breath test which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent.

Dickinson was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear before the Seneca Falls Town Court on February 11, 2026.
