Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson said on April 20 that deputies arrested Erin W Taylor, age 52, of Ovid, New York for driving while intoxicated in the Town of Ovid on April 18 at around 11:30 p.m.

The case is notable because it involves a felony charge due to a prior conviction. Authorities say the incident began after a 911 call reported a woman crawling in the middle of the road. Deputies arrived and found a vehicle blocking the westbound lane with its lights on.

Following an investigation at the scene, Taylor was taken into custody and charged with several offenses including VTL 1192-3: Driving While Intoxicated (a Class E Felony), VTL 1192-2AA: Aggravated DWI, VTL 1128A: Leaving from lane unsafely, and VTL 1201A: Parking on a public highway obstructing traffic. According to Thompson, “Taylor submitted to a chemical breath test, yielding a 0.27% BAC.”

Taylor was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear before the Ovid Town Court on May 19 to answer these charges.

The Sheriff’s Office did not provide further details about any injuries or additional circumstances related to this incident.
