Deputies from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Main Street and West Seneca Street in Lodi, New York, on January 1, 2026. The incident occurred around 9:15 a.m.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Zhyana I. Masker, 23, of Ithaca was driving westbound on State Route 96A when she slid through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle traveling northbound on State Route 414. The second vehicle was operated by Mary Reed, 73, of Romulus.

Reed received treatment at the scene from South Seneca Ambulance personnel before being transported to Geneva General Hospital for further care.

Deputies issued Masker tickets for operating without insurance, failing to have her vehicle inspected, and aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree. During their investigation at the scene, deputies also learned that Masker had an outstanding warrant from Cortland City Police Department. She was subsequently taken into custody and transported to Cortland, where she was turned over to local authorities.

Sheriff Tim Thompson stated that the investigation is ongoing.
