Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson said on March 7 that deputies and firefighters responded to a vehicle fire that spread to a nearby home at 9808 Marsh Road in the Town of Lodi. The incident occurred around 9:19 p.m.

The fire caused significant damage to both the vehicle and the residential structure, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters managed to control the blaze before it could cause further harm.

According to Thompson, the fire appeared to have started in the engine compartment of a vehicle parked in the driveway. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Lodi Fire, Ovid Fire, Interlaken Fire, Romulus Fire, Hector Fire, Seneca County Fire Coordinator’s Office, Seneca County Fire Investigation Team, New York State Police, and Trumansburg Ambulance.

The sheriff did not provide additional details about what may have caused the fire beyond its apparent origin in the vehicle’s engine compartment. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
