Thane Benson, Supervisor for the Town of Locke, declared a state of emergency for the town on March 31 due to heavy rain and flooding. Residents in areas such as Maple Avenue, Route 38, and other affected locations are being offered shelter at the Locke Town Hall and Justice Center at 1215 State Route 38.
The declaration aims to provide support and resources to those impacted by rising water levels. The shelter is available for residents who may need a safe place to stay while conditions improve.
Benson advised residents to check their basements, secure their homes, look out for neighbors, and seek help if necessary. “Residents are encouraged to check their basements, secure their homes, check on your neighbors and reach out for help if needed,” Benson said.
For immediate emergencies, residents are instructed to call 911. For other questions or requests related to the emergency situation, Benson can be reached directly at 315-870-0836.
Officials will continue monitoring weather conditions as they develop. Residents are urged to remain vigilant until further notice from local authorities.
