Livingston County issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.
Geneseo, NY, December 16, 2020 — On Monday, December 14, 2020, a bipartisan group of federal lawmakers unveiled a $908 billion coronavirus relief package that is broken into two bills:
The $738 billion Bipartisan Emergency COVID Relief Act of 2020 includes funding for enhanced unemployment benefits, small business loans, education, child care,
agriculture, nutrition, broadband, transit agencies, emergency rental relief, and vaccine distribution among other provisions.
The $160 billion Bipartisan State and Local Support and Small Business Protection Act of 2020 provides liability insurance for businesses and funding for state, local and tribal
governments.
Livingston County Administrator Ian M. Coyle stated, “As the end of the year is quickly approaching, time is of the essence with this latest version of a coronavirus relief package. We continue to urge our Congressional leaders to find a compromise on these new bills to get them passed.”
“Direct and flexible funding for state and local governments – including counties of all sizes – is a critical piece of any coronavirus relief package,” continued Coyle. “These relief funds are necessary as all counties continue to fight on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis.”
