Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School welcomed most students among Ontario County in 2022-23 school year

Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Ontario County schools, welcoming 1,476 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 85.6% of the Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School's total enrollment.

Among the 27 schools in Ontario County, Victor Senior High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 1,320 students, while Canandaigua Academy welcomed 1,082 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School is part of Canandaigua City School District, which roughly covers three schools within Ontario County and has a main office in Canandaigua.

In the previous school year, Canandaigua Primary-Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Ontario County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
