Watkins Glen Elementary School welcomed most students among Schuyler County in 2022-23 school year

Watkins Glen Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Schuyler County schools, welcoming 468 students during the 2022-23 academic year, according to the New York State Education Department.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 94% of the Watkins Glen Elementary School's total enrollment.

Among the six schools in Schuyler County, Watkins Glen Central High School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 432 students, while Odessa-Montour Junior/Senior High School welcomed 293 students and came in third in the 2022-23 school year.

Watkins Glen Elementary School is part of Watkins Glen Central School District, which roughly covers three schools within Schuyler County and has a main office in Montour Falls.

In the previous school year, Watkins Glen Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Schuyler County schools.

In 2022, New York had roughly one teacher for every 12 students, which is lower than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students. A lower student-to-teacher ratio has been found to improve students' school performance.
